Chinese electric car maker Nio has returned to the smartphone market with the launch of its second flagship, the Nio Phone 2. Positioned as an integration within the Nio EV ecosystem, here’s what the successor to the 2023 Neo Phone 1, brings to the table.
Nio Phone 2 Specs
The Nio Phone 2 features a 6.82 inch LTPO AMOLED display coupled with 120Hz refresh rate along with HDR10+ support and peak brightness of 2600 nits. The device also features Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for protection and IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
Coming to performance, the phone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor coupled with Adreno 750 GPU. The phone is available in two RAM configurations, 12GB RAM and 16GB RAM coupled with 512GB and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. However, the absence of a microSD card slot might be a deal-breaker for some users who require expandable storage.
In terms of imaging, the Nio Phone 2 features a triple rear camera system, headlined by a 48MP sensor with multi-directional PDAF and OIS along with a 50MP periscope telephoto lens and 48MP ultrawide sensor. On the front, the device features a 12 MP selfie-camera.
Powering the Nio Phone 2 is a 5020mAh battery, with 80W wired charging, 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging. Additionally, the device features an under display fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, proximity, gyro, compass, barometer and Ultra Wideband (UWB) support.
On the inside, the phone features Android 14 with Nio’s SkyUI 2 OS and possesses Nio’s AI model called NOMI GPT and the Nio Link app that can used to connect the Nio car with the phone.
Price, colours and availability
The Nio Phone 2 is available in three RAM configurations: the standard 12GB+512GB of storage is priced at 6499 yuan (Rs. 76,038), the 12GB+1TB variant costs 6899 yuan (Rs.76,053), and the EP Edition with 16GB+1TB of storage is priced at 7499 yuan (Rs.87,755). The device is available in six colour hues: Space Blue, Moonlight Silver, Pine Green, Golden Sand, Nebula Red, EPedition. Pre-orders for the device are now open, and sales start in China from August 10th.
