HP, short for Hewlett-Packard, has launched Voyager Free 60 Plus earbuds that come packed in a touchscreen charging case. However, the American multinational consumer tech giant’s regular Voyager Free 60s comes with a plain vanilla charging case.

Users can accept or reject calls, control music playback, and check volume, settings as well as battery status through the OLED touchscreen of the case of the earbuds’ Plus model, according to a report by The Verge. The screen can further be used to switch between two connected devices, while the earbuds could pair with multiple devices and can remember up to eight connections, the report added.

HP has joined several other companies in making wireless earbuds. Some features of HP’s earbuds, similar to those offered by other earbuds makers, are adaptive active noise cancellation with a transparency mode, gesture controls, etc.

According to The Verge, the earbuds use WindSmart technology for making calls clearer in an outside environment. It also supports AptX, which is a “proven technology that compresses and then decompresses audio as it travels from a source device like a phone, to a receiving device like a wireless speaker, in a way that it can be transmitted over Bluetooth without damaging the quality,” according to Qualcomm aptX website.

In terms of battery, the earbuds are said to last around eight hours with ANC, the report added. The Plus version of the earbuds comes with a USB 3.5mm cable and also supports Qi wireless charging. The device is rated IP54 for splash and dust resistance. The price and availability of the device are unclear at the moment.
