MG Motor India launched the new Hector and Hector Plus sports utility vehicle at the Auto Expo 2023. With some comprehensive upgrades, the 2023 MG Hector starts at Rs 14.72 lakh and goes up to Rs 22.42 lakh (ex-showroom).

The MG Hector facelift debuts an argyle-inspired diamond mesh grille and features dual-tone interiors in argil brown and black theme with a wooden finish. MG’s new SUV will be available in five variants – Style, Smart, Smart Pro, Sharp Pro, and Savvy Pro.

What takes the center stage is the SUV’s 14-inch HD touchscreen portrait infotainment system and the reworked dashboard, both of which adds a premium touch to the car. Among all the big upgrades, the showstopper would be the 11 Autonomous Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, or ADAS features. These include a combination of active and passive safety features including traffic jam assist, auto turn indicators, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and high beam assist, among others.

“The intelligent Traffic Jam Assist (TJA) ensures minimal effort and maximum safety in a traffic jam situation by keeping the vehicle in the middle of the lane and maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle in front,” MG described in a press release.

“The newly introduced Smart Auto Turn Indicators in Next Gen MG Hector also offer a hassle-free and safe driving experience. Based on the steering angle, the respective indicator light automatically gets ON/OFF. This automatic signal will be useful when the driver fails to put on the indicator while entering the road from a parking space or during a U-turn,” it added.

Furthermore, the MG Hector 2023 comes with a first-in-segment digital Bluetooth key, which can be used to lock, unlock, start and drive the car in case of emergency or loss of key. The SUV also comes with a key-sharing capability that lets the rider share an additional key with up to two people. Upgrades like voice commands for ambient lights and navigation voice guidance in five Indian languages have also been included.

Customers can avail a standard 5+5+5 package i.e., a warranty of five years with unlimited kilometers, five years of roadside assistance, and five labor-free periodic services. The company has launched a five-seater Hector and the six and seven-seater Hector Plus models. While the SUV is said to have arrived at the dealership, its delivery is expected to begin soon.
