The audio chat app is developed by Truecaller’s teams in Stockholm and India.
The makers of Truecaller, True Software Scandinavia AB, released a real-time audio chat app ‘Open Doors’ on Wednesday.
The company claims that Open Doors, which is available globally on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, works seamlessly across both smartphone platforms and will be completely free to use.
“Thanks to Truecaller being 13 years in the business, we’ve spent a great deal of time learning about how people communicate. Our new app Open Doors was born out of a simple question – how can we help people make new connections without being intrusive? And this is what we want to do: to bridge the world using the most natural form of communication, our voices,” said Nami Zarringhalam, chief strategy officer and co-founder of the caller-identification and blocking application, Truecaller.
The audio chat app is developed by Truecaller’s teams in Stockholm and India and has a simple onboarding process. While an existing Truecaller customer can sign in with just one tap, new users can verify their mobile numbers using a missed call or one-time password.
The phone numbers of the participants will not be displayed to each other. The new app requires two permissions. First, contacts; so that the user can connect with people. And second, phone permission is needed to record audio conversations.
Participants can start or leave the conversation at their will. The company aims to foster a safe, inclusive and respectful environment during conversations, and hence, the chats are not stored anywhere, nor can anyone listen in without the knowledge of the user. Initially, the app is available in English, Hindi, Spanish, Latin, and French, and the company is open to adding more languages later as per user demand.
