Want to book an Uber? Now Its just a WhatsApp message away for Delhi-NCR users
Uber drivers will see no change in their experience with rides booked via WhatsApp.

Uber has launched a feature for the users of Delhi NCR (or National Capital Region) to book rides via the company’s official chatbot on WhatsApp.

Following the success of its pilot in Lucknow last year, the WhatsApp to Ride (or WA2R) feature will be extended to Delhi NCR users, starting this week. Built on the WhatsApp Business Platform, the service will be provided in English and Hindi languages for an enhanced user experience.

“Riders will no longer need to download or use the Uber app. Everything from user registration, booking a ride, and getting a trip receipt will be managed within the WhatsApp chat interface,” the cab company said in a blog post.

The blog also mentioned steps on how to book an Uber ride on WhatsApp.

– Send ‘Hi’ on Whatsapp to +91 7292000002

– Click to Whatsapp: Here (Mobile phone only)

Riders need to enter pickup and drop-off locations, following which they will receive information relating to fare and the driver’s expected time of arrival.

“Riders get access to the same safety features and insurance protection as those who book trips via the Uber app directly,” the American mobility service provider said. “They will be informed of the name of the driver and license plate of the driver on booking; be able to track the location of the driver en route to the pickup point; and be able to speak to the driver anonymously using a masked number.”

Further, with regards to the riders’ safety, WhatsApp chat flow will inform the users about safety guidelines, and the rider will get a call from the Uber support team if they select the “emergency” option while on the trip.

The upgrade concerns only the riders. Uber drivers will see no change in their experience with rides booked via WhatsApp.
