VinFast ships second batch of 1,879 longer-range SUVs to North America
VinFast was established in 2017 and is owned by one of the largest Vietnamese conglomerates Vingroup.

Vietnamese automotive company VinFast has shipped the second batch of longer-range of electric sports utility vehicles to North America. According to a Reuters report, the company said on Monday it had shipped 1,879 longer-range VF 8 SUVs.

The news report further stated that out of the total shipped cars, a batch of 1,098 cars will land in California and the remaining in Canada following a 20-day sea journey. American customers will start getting their deliveries in May, followed by Canadian customers in June. The automobile company is currently offering a lease price of $300 a month for the VF 8 City Edition model for a 24-month lease, the report added. This is a discount of $99 as leasing of VF 8 City Edition is $399, according to the information available on the company’s website.

The Reuters report further added that VinFast secured 55,000 orders globally as of December last year, of which 12,000 are from the U.S. market, making it evident that the company is firming its foot in the overseas market. The Vietnamese car maker plans to open a production plant in North Carolina in 2025.

Talking about Europe, VinFast plans to export the first batch of 700 VF 8 vehicles in mid-July. In its Monday statement, as reported by Reuters, VinFast will soon open global reservations for two new models.

VinFast, which was established in 2017, is an automotive brand owned by one of the largest Vietnamese conglomerates Vingroup. The company has launched several cars like the Lux A2.0 Sedan, and Lux SA2.0 SUV, and electric scooters such as Theon and Feliz. It has even partnered with other global automotive manufacturers like BMW, General, and Siemens to leverage their expertise and technology.

Meanwhile, in 2021, the company launched three new EVs including the VF e34, a compact SUV for the Vietnamese market, and the larger, all-electric premium SUVs – VF 8 and VF 9 – for the global market. Talking about the VinFast all-electric VF 8 SUV, the longer-range car has an estimated range of around 293 miles (or a little over 470 kilometers) on a single charge. This is possible because of its 87.7 kWh advanced battery technology that can deliver high energy density and fast charging times.

The SUV is aimed at the global market, including the U.S., Canada, and Europe. The five-passenger city eSUV’s Eco version is priced at $49,000 and the Plus variant cost $56,000, as per its website.
