The highly-anticipated Xiaomi 13 Ultra smartphone is set to launch globally on April 18. With several leaks and reports suggesting key specifications and features, the Beijing-based phone manufacturing company has officially confirmed a few details. One of the most notable features of the upcoming Xiaomi 13 series handset, expected to succeed the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, is its Leica-tuned cameras.
In an official Weibo post, Xiaomi confirmed the types of sensors that will be used in the quad rear camera system of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. The device will feature one 50-megapixel Sony IMX989 sensor and three 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 sensors in its quad rear camera setup. The company also stated that the smartphone’s cameras would come with upgraded noise-reduction technologies and improved HDR features.
Xiaomi and Leica have already confirmed that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will feature the “most exceptional Leica Summicron lens.” The Leica Summicron lens, known for its spherical optical construction, is said to help with “perfect imaging and excellent contrasts.”
According to previous reports, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The handset is expected to sport a 6.7-inch WQHD+ AMOLED LTPO display with a refresh rate of 120Hz.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is also expected to feature a 32-megapixel front camera and run on Android 13-based MIUI 14 out-of-the-box. It is likely to pack a 4,900mAh battery with 90W fast charging support.
Xiaomi’s co-founder and CEO, Lei Jun, shared some promotional images of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra on his Weibo account, teasing the design of the handset. In the Weibo post, Lei Jun wrote, “With the blessing of this suit, the phone turns into a camera! Mi 13 Ultra has a full range of professional photography. There are so many fun things in this set.” He also added that more information would be shared soon at the press conference.
