The ZTE Nubia Red Magic 9S Pro+, slated for release on July 16th, 2024, boasts a combination of gaming-centric specs, new cooling features, and a focus for peak performance. Here’s a deeper look into what the Red Magic 9S Pro+ has to offer.

ZTE Nubia Red Magic 9S Pro Specs

The Red Magic 9S Pro+ boasts a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate coupled with a peak brightness of 1600 nits and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection against scratches and accidental drops.

The 9S Pro+ packs a punch as it features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset under the hood that is further enhanced by the Adreno 750 GPU, clocked at 1 GHz. The phone comes in two configurations: a 16GB RAM+512GB storage option, and a whopping 24GB RAM+1TB storage option.

Unlike most phones, ZTE aims to prevent overheating issues during extended gaming sessions, as the phone incorporates a built-in cooling fan with a 520Hz touch-sensing zone. This allows for pressure-sensitive controls within the game that can be mapped to specific actions. The aviation aluminum middle frame further aids in heat dissipation, keeping the phone cool and ensuring sustained performance.

In terms of camera, the 9S Pro+ features a triple-camera system on the back that includes a combination of one 50 MP main sensor followed by a 50 MP ultrawide and a 2 MP depth sensor. Additionally, the device features a 16MP under-display selfie camera. In terms of audio, the device features, stereo speakers with 32-bit/384kHz Hi-Res audio and Snapdragon Sound technology

The 9S Pro+ is powered by a sizable 5500mAh battery, which should be sufficient for extended gaming sessions, but here’s where the Red Magic 9S Pro truly shines, in its charging speed as ZTE claims that with the phone’s whopping 165W fast charging capacity, the device can be charged from 0 to 100% in a mere 16 minutes.

Other features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth, NFC for payments, and an infrared port. The inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack is a welcome addition for gamers who prefer wired headsets. The USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 2 port allows for fast data transfer and supports DisplayPort connectivity for connecting the phone to an external monitor. The phone runs on ZTE’s Redmagic OS 9.5 built on top of Android 14 optimized for gaming with additional customization options.

    Price, Colours and Availability

The Nubia Red Magic 9S Pro+ comes in four colours namely, Design Sleet (Black), Snowfall (Silver), Cyclone (Transparent Black), and Frost (White). While the starting price is expected to be around 740 EUR (Rs.66,747), the exact pricing may vary depending on the region.
