Apple has officially announced its next product launch event, scheduled for May 7th at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET. The virtual “special Apple Event” is expected to focus on iPads, as evidenced by the inclusion of the Apple Pencil in the event’s invitation image.
OLED iPad Pro: A Long-Awaited Upgrade
One of the most anticipated announcements at the event is the long-rumored OLED iPad Pro. This upgrade is expected to bring significant improvements to Apple’s flagship tablet line, including a slightly larger 13-inch display for the top-end model, an updated M3 chipset, and a much-needed repositioning of the front-facing camera to a horizontal orientation. Additionally, there are rumors of a new Apple Pencil and a redesigned Magic Keyboard with an aluminum build and a larger trackpad.
The introduction of the OLED iPad Pro will mark the most substantial update to the line since the 2021 M1 overhaul, bringing an end to the longest wait for new iPad models since Apple first entered the tablet market.

Alongside the iPad Pro, Apple is also expected to unveil refreshed iPad Air models, including a larger 12.9-inch variant. The current iPad Air has been experiencing dwindling inventory at Apple’s retail stores, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, indicating that an upgraded model is imminent.

The May 7th event follows the successful launch of the Vision Pro earlier this year, which kicked off Apple’s 2024 product lineup. As the company continues to innovate and expand its offerings, the iPad event promises to deliver exciting updates to its popular tablet line.
