The American multinational tech giant – Apple’s new MacBook Air with M2 chip will be available to order from today at 5 a.m. PDT (or 5:30 p.m. IST), while the worldwide delivery of the laptop will begin on July 15.
The durable, all-aluminium unibody device is available in four colours – midnight, starlight, silver, and space grey. The laptop is priced at $1,199 (approximately Rs. 95,000) but can be bought for $1,099 (approximately Rs. 87,000) for education.
With even better performance, the new MacBook Air has a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera with twice the resolution and low-light performance of the previous generation, a four-speaker sound system, and supports immersive spatial audio for music and movies with Dolby Atmos.
Apple’s in-house M2 chip has a more powerful 8-core CPU and up to 10-core GPU, so users can get more done faster. It can handle even larger and more complex workloads and playback more streams of 4K and 8K videos than before.
Built with a silent and fanless design, the device features MagSafe, which keeps the two Thunderbolt ports free for connecting to a variety of accessories. It also has a 3.5 mm audio jack with support for high-impedance headphones, while delivering the same battery life as before, with up to 18 hours of video playback.
MacBook Air offers several charging options, including an all-new 35W compact power adapter with two USB-C ports, so users can charge two devices at once and for the first time supports fast charging for up to 50 per cent in just 30 minutes.
