    Qualcomm Introduces Snapdragon Seamless for Cross-Device Connectivity

    Qualcomm Technologies has announced the introduction of Snapdragon Seamless technology during its recent Snapdragon Summit. This cross-platform technology aims to enable connectivity and data sharing between Android, Windows, and Snapdragon devices operating on different systems.

    Snapdragon Seamless has been integrated into Qualcomm’s recent mobile platforms, including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon X Elite, and is also part of its wearable and hearable platforms. The company plans to extend this technology to XR, Auto, and IoT platforms in the near future.

    Dino Bekis, VP and GM of wearables and mixed-signal solutions at Qualcomm, mentioned that Snapdragon Seamless aims to improve user experience by enabling interaction between different devices and operating systems.

    The key features of Snapdragon Seamless include:

    • Operation of peripherals like mice and keyboards across PCs, phones, and tablets.
    • Drag-and-drop functionality for files and windows between different devices.
    • Switching among earbuds based on the audio source priority.
    • Extending smartphones capabilities with Extended Reality (XR).

    These features are developed to address the challenges associated with device incompatibility, as highlighted by Deloitte’s 2023 Connected Consumer survey. The announcement of Snapdragon Seamless by Qualcomm comes amidst the growing need for better connectivity and interaction between devices, especially given the rise of remote and hybrid work environments.

    To further the development and application of Snapdragon Seamless, Qualcomm has collaborated with several tech companies including Microsoft, Google, Xiaomi, Honor, Lenovo, and Oppo. The collaborative effort is expected to enable multi-device experiences powered by Snapdragon Seamless, with a plan to roll out on global device platforms within the year.
