Amazon announced on Thursday that its virtual health clinic has expanded its services to now provide treatment for common respiratory ailments like cough, cold, and flu. The company says that the feature is added based on the feedback from Amazon Clinic customers at a time when cases of COVID-19 were rising in the United States.
Patients can now log onto the platform, consult with licensed healthcare professionals, and receive guidance and prescriptions for their ailments from the comfort of their homes. To make use of the latest addition, Amazon Clinic customers need to choose the “Find a treatment” list on Amazon Clinic via Amazon.com or the Amazon mobile app. They can find what is best for them by reviewing a list of available telehealth providers and comparing pricing and response times. The company also lists each condition with detailed information on symptoms, testing, and treatment options on its resource page.
“Many people think they have to suffer through cold and flu symptoms like headaches, sinus pressure, runny nose, and difficulty breathing, but there are many things they can do to feel better more quickly and avoid infecting others,” said Dr. Nworah Ayogu, chief medical officer and general manager of Amazon Clinic. “We want to help customers get relief quickly so they can get back to their lives.”
