Ather, a well-known electric scooter manufacturer in India, has recently launched its latest offering, the Rizta. This new family-oriented electric scooter joins the company’s existing lineup of Ather 450-series scooters and is available in two variants: S and Z.

The Rizta’s design takes a more conservative approach compared to its sporty, sharper-looking 450-series siblings. The front of the scooter features a horizontally laid out headlight cluster with integrated DRLs and turn indicators, giving it a simple and neat appearance that should appeal to its target customers. The side and tail panels are seamlessly integrated, showcasing Ather’s efforts to blend form and function in the Rizta’s design. The tail-light mimics the bar-style shape of the headlight and sits well within the bodywork, contributing to the scooter’s overall aesthetic appeal.

One of the standout features of the Rizta is its size. It is the largest scooter that Ather has produced to date, boasting a 900mm long seat, which the company claims is the biggest seat of any scooter in India. The spacious underseat storage area can accommodate a variety of items, such as office bags, groceries, and umbrellas. Additionally, there is a convenient storage bin in front of the main storage area, perfect for keeping wallets, loose change, or a cleaning cloth. Ather also offers an optional flexible frunk that attaches to the back of the apron, providing an additional 22 liters of storage space. Combined with the 34-liter underseat storage, the Rizta offers a total of 56 liters of storage capacity.

The Rizta is available with two battery options. The Rizta S is equipped with a 2.9kWh battery that offers a true range of 105km. The Rizta Z, on the other hand, can be purchased with either the 2.9kWh battery or a larger 3.7kWh battery that provides a true range of 125km. Ather offers a standard five-year/60,000km warranty on the battery, providing peace of mind to customers.

In terms of features, the Ather Rizta is well-equipped, offering full LED illumination, a color TFT display, Bluetooth connectivity, and navigation. The display unit is the same as the one found in the Ather 450X. One of the highlights is the underseat wireless charger for the Ather Halo smart helmet, which magnetically attaches to the back of the helmet once it is stored in the boot, charging the Halo’s batteries.

The Rizta’s hardware is based on the underbone chassis derived from the 450-series, with the main difference being a longer, wider, and lower-placed subframe. The scooter is suspended by telescopic forks and a monoshock, and rides on 12-inch wheels wrapped in MRF tires. Braking is handled by a front disc and a rear drum setup.

To enhance safety, the Rizta is equipped with Ather’s Skid Control technology, which functions like a traction control system. It uses wheel speed sensors to detect rear wheel slip and modulates power to prevent wheel spin on slippery road surfaces. The scooter also features an ESS system that flashes the tail light to alert following vehicles during sudden braking.

The introductory prices for the Ather Rizta are as follows: Rs. 1.10 lakh for the S variant, Rs. 1.25 lakh for the Z variant with the 2.9kW battery, and Rs. 1.45 lakh for the Z variant with the 3.7kW battery (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). The Ather Rizta competes with other electric scooters in the market, such as the Ola S1 and TVS iQube range.
