Tata Sierra

Tata Motors is reviving the iconic Sierra nameplate with a bold electric SUV. The original Sierra, launched in 1991, was India’s first indigenously developed SUV. Now, the Sierra EV concept, showcased in 2020 and 2023, takes inspiration from its predecessor’s boxy design while offering a modern electric twist. This electric SUV boasts a bold design with an upright grille, sleek headlights, and unique rear sliding doors reminicent of the OG Sierra. While official specs remain under wraps, rumors suggest it might come in four variants: Creative, Fearless, Fearless Plus, and Empowered. The estimated price range falls between Rs. 25,00,000 and Rs. 30,00,000, depending on the chosen variant.

Tata Sierra EV Features

The Sierra EV’s exterior is expected to turn heads with its modern take on a classic SUV design. Look for prominent LED light bars running across the front and rear, flanked by stylish LED headlamps, DRLs, and taillights. Large diamond-cut alloy wheels complement the blacked-out C and D-pillars, while an integrated spoiler, roof rails, and faux skid plates add a touch of ruggedness. A glossy black finish on the ORVMs and flush-fitting door handles complete the sleek look.

Moving inside, the Sierra EV promises a comfortable and technologically advanced cabin. A panoramic sunroof is expected to bathe the interior in natural light, while a four-spoke steering wheel and a fully digital instrument cluster provide a driver-centric feel. A floating center console with a large infotainment screen adds a modern touch, while touch controls for the AC and a new gear lever enhance convenience. The front passenger can also enjoy their own entertainment with a rumored secondary display. Wireless charging and multiple seating layouts cater to comfort and practicality.

Since the Sierra EV hasn’t been crash-tested by NCAP yet, safety ratings are unknown. It will carve out its own niche in the electric SUV market, but might face future competition from established players like Toyota, Hyundai, Honda, Kia, and Maruti Suzuki. The Tata Sierra EV is a promising entrant into the electric SUV segment. With its bold design, feature-rich interior, and unique take on functionality, it’s sure to generate excitement among eco-conscious drivers seeking a head-turning electric vehicle. With a targeted launch somewhere around 2025, the Sierra EV is poised to carve its own path in the electric SUV landscape, potentially challenging future models from Toyota and Hyundai.
