OnePlus E 24 Review: Easy to recommend

Affordable monitors are everywhere. With WFH becoming a permanent fixture in our lives, more and more brands have dabbled in the monitor market. The latest entrant is the OnePlus E 24. Fortunately, for us consumers, they have done so in with two pretty impressive monitors. We have spent some time with the E 24, the smaller of the two monitors, and here’s what we think.

OnePlus has adopted a very minimalist design ideology. The E 24 has three practically bezel-less sides with a chin at the bottom. Everything is finished in black with a small OnePlus logo in the center of the chin. At the back, matte black is the colour of choice with a band towards the bottom protruding out. The ports are below this band. That aside, the monitor is relatively slim with a thickness of just 8mm. Lower down, the aluminium alloy stand in grey feels solid and allows for tilt but not height adjust. The entire monitor and stand package is relatively light as well – weighing in at around 3kg.

The panel itself is a 24-inch full-HD IPS unit with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The large viewing angles were something that I noticed right away. It tends to be the sort of thing that several affordable monitors overlook, but OnePlus haven’t done that here. The colour reproduction is good as well, and so is the brightness at 250nits. Out of the box it does come set to a lower brightness which I could quickly fix through the smartly integrated menus.

With a 75Hz refresh rate, it isn’t exactly a monitor that you’d enjoy using for gaming, but it feels par for the course in the price range. More important is the 5ms response rate which makes the overall experience feel far smoother.

Unlike most monitors, the OnePlus E 24 comes with a single joystick at the back on the right-hand side. It is a lot more intuitive to use and makes it easy to access the in-built controls for things such as viewing modes, an eye comfort mode and more. The port selection is fairly robust as well with an added bonus in the form of a Type-C port that you can also use to charge a device at 18 watts.

A standard power in, a headphone jack, a display port and an HDMI compete the list of ports on the back of the OnePlus E 24.
For an entry level monitor, the E 24 is easy to recommend as it ticks all the boxes and offers a few extras as well. More importantly, it feels well built and comes with a clean, minimalist aesthetic that should work for most desks.
