Qualcomm announces 5G capable Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is said to take the phone’s battery from zero to 50% in just 15 minutes.

American multinational tech corporation Qualcomm on Monday unveiled its latest 5G capable, entry-level smartphone processor Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. The chip is also said to offer “impressively smooth performance” for all-day use while offering improved photos and videos, speedy Wi-Fi, a long-lasting battery, and precise location tracking, among other features.

Talking about smooth performance, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip reaches a peak speed of up to 2.2 GHz thanks to the improved Qualcomm Kryo CPU, which packs up to 10% performance improvement. This bolsters UI experiences, faster multitasking, etc. Furthermore, a rapid-fire 120 FPS display renders stutter-free visuals, making mobile gaming more immersive and scrolling a lag-free experience.

With Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, users can capture high-quality photos and videos as its intelligent noise reduction eliminates grainy, hazy aspects within the frame. Thanks to Qualcomm Spectra ISP that offers concurrent capture from multiple cameras and helps with faster autofocus and noise reduction in photos and videos. Also, users can capture clearer images even with moving subjects. In addition, AI-backed Low Light enhances image quality in dim environments and brings about bright, colorful, crisp photos and videos.

The latest system-on-chip, or SOC, has taken cognizance of the increased use of the 5G network. The Snapdragon X61 5G Modem-RF System, with downlink speeds up to 2.5 Gbps, packs series-first 3GPP Release 16 5G technology that ensures better power efficiency, unparalleled speed, and reliable coverage. The latest Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 offers fast, strong, and reliable Wi-Fi connectivity at home or over public networks such as train stations, cafes, etc. thanks to Qualcomm Wi-Fi 5.

The new chip is said to take the phone’s battery from zero to 50% in just 15 minutes as it is powered by Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ Technology. In addition, the first 4nm processing node in the Snapdragon 4 series helps with power savings. Meanwhile, for precise location tracking, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 comes with Qualcomm Sensor-Assisted Positioning and Dual Frequency GNSS (L1 and L5) support. This improves the accuracy of location tracking accuracy by foot or car while improving positioning capabilities for congested urban areas.
