Spotify Wrapped 2022: Arijit Singh and AP Dhillon top the charts in India

Globally, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny is No. 1 on Spotify’s most-streamed with more than 18.5 billion streams in 2022.

Spotify released its Spotify Wrapped campaign for 2022 on Wednesday. It’s an annul recap of what have been users listening to for the year. This is the fourth edition of music-streaming giant’s list of all the songs that kept its 456 million listeners plugged in. For the third year in a row, singer-composer Arijit Singh became India’s most streamed artist on the app. Pritam is at No. 2, followed by A.R. Rahman at No. 3 and AP Dhillon coming in at a No.6.  “Excuses” by AP Dhillon, Intense and Gurinder Gill smashed records as the most streamed song with over 19 crore streams in India.

Sidhu Moosewala’s “Moosetape” became the most streamed album by Spotify listeners in India, followed by soundtracks to Shershaah and Kabir Singh ranking right after. AP Dhillon’s Hidden Gems comes in the top mentions. Globally, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny is No. 1 on Spotify’s most-streamed with more than 18.5 billion streams in 2022. The rapper becomes the first artist to top the list three consecutive years. Taylor Swift comes in at No. 2 among Spotify’s most-streamed artists, followed by Drake, The Weeknd, and BTS, respectively.

Harry Styles’s “As It Was” racked up more than 1.6 billion streams and turned out to be the biggest single of the year according to Spotify Wrapped. Talking about podcasts, The Joe Rogan Experience is the most popular podcast of this year, followed by Call Her Daddy, from host Alex Cooper.

Other than this, as a part of Spotify Wrapped, the music streaming platform will be sharing its in-app personalised user experience to users which will let them know their top artists, songs and genres. Users can also flaunt their music choices by sharing story cards on WhatsApp and Instagram, and Snapchat. To make things more interesting, Spotify has created 16 different types of listening personalities which will be shown to users telling them which of these personalities they fall into along with their Spotify Wrapped 2022 music recap.
