WhatsApp can soon let users to share pictures in original quality

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to share pictures in the original quality. As of now, the Meta-owned messaging app compressed the images while sending them, in order to save space and bandwidth, which degraded the picture quality. However, a recent report by WABetaInfo suggests that the company will roll out an update to allow users to maintain the original quality of pictures while sharing them.

Presently, WhatsApp has the option to choose between “automatic,” “best quality,” and “data saver” while sending images. It doesn’t let users send the images in their original resolution and size.

However, after the update, WABetaInfo explained with a help of a screenshot, the new setting icon will appear within the drawing tool header. It will enable users to select the quality of any photo. The feature is still under development and will be released with a future update of the app.

Following the update, WhatsApp users will no longer have to share images by attaching them using the ‘Document’ option to maintain their quality. When pictures are sent as documents, it does not offer a preview of the image attached.

WhatsApp’s rival messaging app like Telegram already has the ability to share high-quality for quite some time now.
