On Thursday, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki announced her decision to step down from the position of Chief Executive Officer of Alphabet-owned YouTube, after spending almost a decade as the head of the online video-sharing platform. Now, Indian-American Neal Mohan is all set to become the next CEO of YouTube.

54-year-old, Wojcicki, in her blog post stated that she will focus on “family, health, and personal projects I’m passionate about.” Wojcicki worked as senior vice president for ad products at Google and took the CEO role at YouTube in 2014.

Wojcicki announced her replacement in a blog post where she wrote, “When I joined YouTube nine years ago, one of my first priorities was bringing in an incredible leadership team. Neal Mohan was one of those leaders, and he’ll be the SVP and new head of YouTube.”

Mohan has been working with Google for close to 15 years after the tech giant took over DoubleClick in 2007. In 2015, he was promoted to the Chief Product Officer of YouTube. Since then, Mohan has been overseeing the company’s product and UX teams. He also led the launch of YouTube TV, YouTube Music, and Premium and Shorts along with leading YouTube’s Trust and Safety team.

“Neal will be a terrific leader for YouTube,” Wojcicki said in an internal note to YouTube employees.

Neal Mohan thanked Wojcicki on Twitter saying, “It’s been amazing to work with you (Wojcicki) over the years. You’ve built YouTube into an extraordinary home for creators and viewers. I’m excited to continue this awesome and important mission. Looking forward to what lies ahead…”

49-year-old Mohan has worked with Accenture and Microsoft in a career spanning over two decades. He holds a Master’s in Business Administration (General Management) from Standford University Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.

Neal Mohan also sits on the board of American personal styling service Stitch Fix and Biotech company 23andMe.
