Apple to finally launch Vision Pro outside of United States

Apple fans around the world rejoice! Apple’s high-end mixed-reality headset, the Vision Pro, is finally expanding beyond the US market. Apple Vision Pro will be available in eight new countries: China, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Canada, France, Germany and the United Kingdom. The announcement came at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 on Monday.

“The enthusiasm for Apple Vision Pro has been extraordinary, and we are thrilled to introduce the magic of spatial computing to more customers around the world,” Apple chief executive officer Tim Cook said.

The American tech mogul will begin Vision Pro’s international launch with China mainland, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore. Tech enthusiasts can pre-order the device beginning this Friday, June 14, at 6 a.m. local time. The MR headset will be available beginning June 28.

Customers in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom can pre-order Vision Pro beginning June 28 at 5 a.m. local time. The device will be available in these countries beginning July 12.

“We can’t wait for more people to see the impossible become possible, whether working and collaborating with an infinite canvas for apps, reliving treasured memories in three dimensions, watching TV shows and movies in a one-of-a-kind personal cinema, or enjoying brand-new spatial experiences that defy imagination,” Cook added.

In May, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman first anticipated Vision Pro’s international launch at WWDC. The report then noted that Apple brought in hundreds of employees from international stores to its headquarters in Cupertino, California for training sessions on demonstrating the $3,499 device. These employees went through rigorous training sessions on effectively demonstrating the capabilities of the Vision Pro to prospective customers.

The Vision Pro starts at $3,499 (roughly Rs. 2,90,000) and comes in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options. Users can also purchase Zeiss Optical Inserts for an additional cost, priced at $99 (Rs. 8,000) for reader lenses and $149 (Rs. 12,000) for prescription lenses.

Apple enthusiasts can book a 30-minute demo session at their local Apple Store to ensure a perfect fit and familiarize themselves with the visionOS operating system and its functionalities. This includes a Face ID scan, trying out different loops and light seals for optimal comfort, and adjusting lens inserts. The demo will also provide a basic introduction to the Vision Pro’s interface, including navigation via eye movements, gestures, and voice commands.
