The 77th Cannes Film Festival has solidified its jury lineup, comprising a diverse array of acclaimed talents from around the globe. Headlining the esteemed panel is Lily Gladstone, renowned for her standout performance in the Oscar-nominated film “The Killers of the Flower Moon.” Joining her are French luminaries Eva Green and Omar Sy, along with Italian actor Pierfrancisco Favino. Leading the charge as jury president is Greta Gerwig, the visionary director behind the upcoming Barbie movie.

Rounding out the distinguished panel at the Cannes Film Festival are three internationally recognized directors: Nadine Labaki from Lebanon, Juan Antonio Bayona from Spain, and Kore-eda Hirokazu from Japan. Turkish screenwriter and photographer Ebru Ceylan, known for her collaboration on the Palme d’Or-winning film “Winter Sleep,” completes the ensemble.

Tasked with selecting the festival’s winners, including the prestigious Palme d’Or for best film, the jury faces a formidable lineup of contenders. Among the highly anticipated entries are Francis Ford Coppola’s long-awaited “Megalopolis,” Yorgos Lanthimos’ follow-up to “Poor Things,” and David Cronenberg’s “The Shrouds.” Also vying for top honors are films like Andrea Arnold’s “Bird” and Ali Abbasi’s intriguing Donald Trump drama, “The Apprentice.”

The festival, commencing on May 14, promises an exciting start with the premiere of “The Second Act,” a surreal comedy from French director Quentin Dupieux, featuring stars Léa Seydoux and Vincent Lindon. Other notable out-of-competition premieres include George Miller’s latest installment in the Mad Max saga, “Furiosa,” starring Anya Taylor-Joy, and Kevin Costner’s epic Western, “Horizons: An American Saga – Chapter 1.”

Renowned for its discerning eye and knack for spotting award season darlings, Cannes Film Festival juries have a storied history of propelling standout films to global acclaim. Last year’s Palme d’Or winner, Justine Triet’s “Anatomy of a Fall,” not only garnered accolades at Cannes but also made waves at the Oscars, clinching the Academy Award for best original screenplay and earning a best actress nomination for Sandra Hüller, cementing Cannes’ reputation as a launchpad for cinematic excellence.
