The tech titan, Google, unveiled its much-awaited mid-range smartphone, the Pixel 7a, during the Google I/O event on May 10th. The phone, powered by Google’s proprietary Tensor G2 chip, boasts an impressive range of features that have generated considerable buzz globally. Now, the device has arrived on Indian shores, exclusively available on Flipkart at a price of Rs 43,999.

“The Pixel 7a represents the best of Google’s technological capabilities in a mid-range device,” a Google spokesperson said. “Our goal was to create a phone that delivers exceptional performance and advanced features, making cutting-edge technology accessible to a wider audience.”

The Pixel 7a sports a 6.1-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. It is built with recycled aluminum, glass, and plastic, reflecting Google’s commitment to sustainability. The device is available in three colors: Charcoal, Sea, and Snow, offering consumers a variety of options to suit their personal style.

The Google Pixel 7a carries forward the design elements from its predecessor, the Pixel 7, including a smooth back panel and a metal frame. The camera bar at the back houses a 64-megapixel primary rear camera and a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera. The camera suite features numerous functionalities such as Photo Unblur, Magic Eraser, Night Sight, Long Exposure, Real Tone, Face Unblur, and Panorama, among others.

The device runs on Android 13 out of the box and promises security updates for the next three years. The phone also features a new midframe architecture, touted by Google as the “most durable A-series yet, equipped to handle drops and tumbles.”

Notably, Google is offering a variety of launch offers, including special discounts for HDFC Bank cardholders, bringing the effective price of the phone down to Rs 39,999. Additionally, an exchange offer for old phones could further reduce the cost, with a maximum exchange value of Rs 32,000 for devices in excellent condition. As part of the launch, customers can also avail of free screen damage protection for a year and a three-month trial of YouTube Premium and Google One.

In the increasingly competitive mid-range phone market, the Google Pixel 7a is set to make a mark.
