How To Use Google’s New Gemini AI on Bard and Pixel 8 Pro

The tech giant Google has recently upped its game in the AI arena with the introduction of Gemini, a powerful new tool that appears poised to rival OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Earlier, Google’s Bard had entered the AI chatbot space but didn’t quite match up to ChatGPT’s conversational prowess. However, the latest Gemini update for Bard is a game-changer, promising enhanced reasoning, planning, and understanding abilities. But Bard isn’t the only platform where Gemini’s capabilities shine; users can also experience it on the Pixel 8 Pro. Let’s delve into how you can make the most of Google’s Gemini AI.

    Experiencing Gemini on Bard

Getting started with Gemini-powered Bard is straightforward. All you need is a Google account. Once you’ve logged into Bard’s website with your account, you’re all set to interact with Bard, now powered by Gemini Pro. This is one of three versions of the large language model (LLM) that Google offers.

Currently, Bard is powered only by a fraction of Gemini’s capabilities, but there’s more on the horizon. Google is working on expanding Bard’s abilities to include handling and creating images, audio, and video, transforming it into a more dynamic conversational tool. Additionally, a new iteration named Bard Advanced is slated for release next year. This version will leverage Gemini Ultra, the most sophisticated version of Gemini, capable of processing and generating not only text but also multimedia content. Plus, it will support multiple languages, a significant step up from the current English-only Gemini Pro.

Gemini on the Pixel 8 Pro

For those who own a Pixel 8 Pro, experiencing Gemini doesn’t require an internet connection. The phone incorporates Gemini Nano, a more compact version of the AI model, which enhances certain features of the device even when offline.

One of these features is Smart Reply. Found in messaging apps, Smart Reply suggests responses to messages. The Pixel 8 Pro, with Gemini Nano, offers more relevant and natural suggestions. To activate this feature, go to Developer Options in the Settings and enable AiCore. Then, in a WhatsApp conversation, you’ll see Gemini Nano-powered suggestions in the Gboard keyboard. Currently, this is available in a limited preview for US English on WhatsApp, but Google plans to extend its reach to more apps and languages.

Another feature benefiting from Gemini is the Recorder app. With Gemini’s help, the app can now summarize entire meetings at a click, providing concise overviews of key points. Just start a recording in the app and tap the summary button to view a Gemini Nano-generated summary of the audio.

    The Future of Gemini

Google’s Gemini AI is still in its infancy, but it’s already showing significant promise. The company is actively working on enhancing its capabilities and extending its reach. Whether through conversational interactions on Bard or practical applications on the Pixel 8 Pro, Gemini is set to redefine how we interact with AI in our daily lives. As technology evolves, we can expect even more innovative and immersive AI experiences from Google.
