“It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me,” said Murphy in a statement. “I’m thrilled to be working with Steven Knight and Tom Harper again on the big screen version of Peaky Blinders. This is something special for the fans.”

Harper shared his excitement as well, reflecting on the show’s unforeseen success: “Over a decade ago, directing Peaky Blinders, we knew there was magic in the blend of the cast and the writing. Peaky Blinders has always been about family, and it’s fantastic to reunite with Steve and Cillian to bring this movie to global audiences on Netflix.”

Knight, who penned the screenplay for the film, promises an explosive continuation of the Shelby saga. Set against the gritty backdrop of 1900s Birmingham, the story will delve back into the Shelby family’s ruthless world. Knight will co-produce alongside Murphy, Caryn Mandabach, and Guy Heeley. Executive producers include Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason.

“I’m genuinely thrilled this film is happening,” declared Knight. “It will be a thrilling new chapter for Peaky Blinders, with no limitations. We’re bringing back the Peaky Blinders in all their glory, ready for war!” he exclaimed

While plot details and additional casting news are still under wraps, production for the film is slated to begin later this year. Developed in association with BBC Film, the Peaky Blinders movie promises to be a high-octane return for the beloved gangster drama, taking the Shelby family’s ruthless world to a whole new platform and potentially a whole new and wider audience.
