Now you can make notes on WhatsApp with its new ‘Message Yourself’ feature

The "Message Yourself" feature is expected to have a phased rollout.

WhatsApp Message Myself

WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that will allow you to send messages to yourself. The feature “Message Yourself” will be available for both Android and iOS users in the coming weeks. With this, you can now make notes, add reminders or just keep a piece of information easily accessible on an instant messaging platform that you use several times a day.

WABetaInfo reported in late October that the feature is being tested with some beta testers. WhatsApp has confirmed to TechCrunch that the feature has begun rolling out globally. The feature is expected to have a phased rollout.

To access the Message Yourself feature, you have to click on the new chat option on WhatsApp. Now, click on your name at the top of the contact list and you’ll be able to send a message to yourself. You can also pin their Message Yourself chats to the top of a conversation list for easier access.

Until now, WhatsApp users like me were already using the Meta-owned platform to take notes by coming up with workarounds. Some users “click to chat” feature. Meanwhile, I made a group with myself as the only participant. WhatsApp could make this feature way more helpful by adding up the “add reminder” option.

WhatsApp’s rival apps have already added a note-taking feature. Signal, for that instance, has a feature named Note to Self that allows you to create messages for personal use. But to use the features, users on the Signal app will need to search and select the contact entry “Note to Self” to use the feature. Telegram also has a similar feature called Saved Messages that lets users bookmark messages and take notes and reminders. Community platform Slack has a dedicated space called “Jot Something Down” to let users send notes to themselves.
