Sony Surprises with PS VR2 Games and Discounts in June PlayStation Plus Update

As June rolls in, PlayStation Plus subscribers are in for a treat, particularly those armed with PS VR2 headsets. For the first time ever, a selection of PS VR2 games will be included in the PlayStation Plus lineup, marking a significant enhancement to the Premium plan’s offerings.

The excitement begins on June 4 when PlayStation Plus members across all subscription tiers can start adding several titles to their digital libraries. Among these are “SpongeBob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake,” “Streets of Rage 4,” and the robust “AEW Fight Forever.” These games promise to keep subscribers engaged with a mix of nostalgia and fresh, thrilling gameplay. As usual, these games remain accessible as long as one’s PlayStation Plus membership is active.

For those with the Premium plan, the perks are even more substantial, especially for VR enthusiasts. Starting June 6, Premium subscribers who own a PS VR2 headset can immerse themselves in a diverse array of VR experiences at no additional cost. This includes ghost-busting in “Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord,” teeing off in “Walkabout Mini Golf,” losing oneself in the music-driven “Synth Riders,” engaging in the narrative-driven “Before Your Eyes,” and surviving the zombie apocalypse in “The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapters 1 & 2.” Additionally, nostalgic journeys await with PS2 classics like “Tomb Raider Legend,” “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” and “Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus,” all available from June 11.

The array of titles extends beyond these dates, with more games slated to join the PS Plus Catalog for Extra and Premium members. Highlights include “Dredge,” a standout indie from the previous year, joining the catalog on May 29, followed by “Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2” and “Cricket 24.” “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition” will make its grand entrance on June 7.

In tandem with these gaming delights, Sony’s Days of Play sale, kicking off on May 29, promises two weeks of enticing discounts. PlayStation aficionados can expect reductions on PlayStation 5 and PS VR2 hardware, the latter bundled with a year of Netflix Premium. Additionally, newcomers to PlayStation Plus can look forward to savings on subscription plans, and there will be numerous deals on digital games, including some exciting 24-hour flash sales.

Interestingly, Sony broke its usual pattern by announcing these updates on a Tuesday instead of a Wednesday, hinting that we might see further surprises, possibly even a long-rumored showcase, as the week progresses.
