There has been exciting news from Tika Sumpter surrounding the update on the Knuckles spinoff and the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movies. Her updates promise new information coming soon. According to her updates, the Knuckles spinoff is most likely in post-production and might have a mid-2024 release. This will be in accordance to maintain a narrative continuity with the next theatrical installment. A potential release date for Knuckles spinoff might be announced by Paramount at the Super Bowl LVIII along with footage from Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Its been nearly a year since the filming kicked off for both of the franchises. While Knuckles is set to act as a spinoff of the first sequel in the movie franchise adapting SEGA video games. The latter will see the cast of Ben Schwartz, Elba, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Sumpter, James Marsden and Lee Madjoub in their various roles.
During an interview with the Screen Rant for the upcoming Prime Video sports comedy, The Underdogs, Tika Sumpter was asked about updates for these movies. She kept mum about it and humorously states Paramount would fire her if she revealed the information.
“I think the info is coming very soon. But you are going to be extremely happy. I think there’s a lot coming, so just you wait. That’s all I got for you. They’ll fire me! [Laughs]”
There was no proper information about the release date of the show, nor was there any information about if the SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild of America strike affected it.
Considering how the trailer for the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 debuted during the NFL championship game of its respective release year, it is likely that the Knuckles trailer will be shown during the Super Bowl LVIII game. It would be even more interesting to see if paramount announces a proper release date for the spinoff show along with the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 footage to connect the titles together.
