Twitter’s Indian alternative Koo has reportedly integrated the popular artificial intelligence-based chatbot ChatGPT on its platform. According to a Reuters report, that quoted Koo’s co-founder Mayank Bidawatka, the integration of the AI bot will help users create posts more easily.

Bidawatka told Reuters in an interview that users of the Indian social media platform will be able to use OpenAI’s chatbot directly within Koo’s app, aiding them in drafting posts about current events, politics, or pop culture. Koo will become the first platform to integrate the AI capability to compose posts, he claimed.

Furthermore, users can either type their prompts into the ChatGPT tool or use the social media’s voice command feature. The company is also planning to add labels that indicate that the post is created with the help of ChatGPT.

With this upgrade, the company’s co-founder expects that the number of active content creators on the app, which is about 20% currently, will increase. The feature will be first rolled out to verified Koo accounts and later become available to all users.

Co-founded by entrepreneurs Aprameya Radhakrishna and Mayank Bidawatka, and launched during the coronavirus pandemic, Koo is a multilingual microblogging platform that caters to an audience in vernacular languages. It has a yellow-and-white interface and is available in more than 20 languages including Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Assamese, Bengali, and English.

Just like Twitter, Koo users can write short blogs and categorize posts with hashtags. They can further mention others in their posts and reply to people. Amid the Twitter drama, in November, Koo proved to be a hit in Brazil and garnered over one million downloads within 48 hours of its launch in the country.

Meanwhile, short for Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer – ChatGPT – is a popular AI text generator owned by OpenAI. It has been the center of attention since its release in November last year due to its human-like response. The Microsoft-funded AI-based text generator has even passed some of the toughest exams in the U.S.

Last week, Microsoft said it has bundled the ChatGPT technology with its Power Platform, allowing users to develop applications with little to no coding. The company has previously integrated the technology used by ChatGPT and revamped its search engine, Bing.
