Amrapali “Ami” Gan, the CEO of OnlyFans, has announced her departure from the company after two and a half years at the helm. Gan played a crucial role in steering OnlyFans, primarily recognized as a creator-subscription platform catering to adult content, during a period of significant growth and cultural impact. She expressed her gratitude on Twitter, stating, “Spending nearly 3 years at OnlyFans while it echoed throughout the cultural zeitgeist, has been beyond rewarding.”
Gan’s successor will be Keily Blair, the current Chief Strategy and Operations Officer at OnlyFans. Blair, a lawyer and business executive, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She previously led the trust and safety operations at OnlyFans and was key in formulating strategic initiatives for the company.
Expressing her excitement, Blair stated, “I am delighted to be taking on the role of CEO at such an exciting time for the company. OnlyFans only succeeds when creators succeed.” She emphasized her commitment to putting creators at the forefront of business decisions and providing them with an inclusive, safe, and innovative platform to connect with fans and monetize their content.
Under Gan’s leadership, OnlyFans witnessed remarkable growth, with the platform’s global user base exceeding 220 million fans and over 3 million content creators, according to Variety. During her tenure, OnlyFans generated an impressive $10 billion for its creators. The company retains 20% of creators’ payments, and it was estimated by PitchBook that OnlyFans would generate $2.5 billion in revenue in 2022.
Lee Taylor, CFO and Director of OnlyFans, expressed gratitude for Gan’s contributions, stating, “Ami led OnlyFans through a significant period of growth, and we are extremely grateful for all her hard work.” Taylor also praised Blair’s vision for the future of the platform and her strong connection with the creator community, highlighting her instrumental role in driving OnlyFans towards its goal of becoming the safest social media platform.
Amrapali Gan will be embarking on a new venture called Hoxton Projects, which aims to assist growing businesses in clarifying their needs and executing effective solutions. Gan’s background in marketing, including her previous role as Chief Marketing Officer at OnlyFans, positions her well for this new venture.
OnlyFans faced a pivotal moment during Gan’s tenure when the company initially announced a ban on sexually explicit content, causing uproar among creators. However, the decision was subsequently reversed, with OnlyFans reaffirming its commitment to supporting adult creators on the platform.
As the new CEO, Blair will lead OnlyFans through this transformative period, focusing on expanding the platform’s reach and fostering a diverse community of creators and fans. With her expertise in data privacy law, Blair is well-equipped to ensure the safety and security of user data, a crucial aspect of the platform’s continued success.
