The iPhone 15 series is expected to be priced $200 higher than its predecessor iPhone 14 series.
American multinational tech giant Apple could announce its next-in-line iPhone 15 series on September 13, according to a report by 9to5Mac. It is noteworthy that Apple typically announces its latest smartphones and other products in September.
The iPhone maker is asking its employees not to take leave on September 13 due to a major smartphone announcement, the report noted; adding that, unlike any other previous launches, last year’s iPhone 14 series was unveiled on a Wednesday, and September 13 is also a Wednesday. In addition, if the latest iPhone series is launched on the said date, its pre-orders start on Friday, September 15, and the official store release a week later on September 22.
iPhone 15 series rumoured specifications
The latest iPhone 15 series is rumored to get slightly curved edges and thinner bezels around the display. The Pro variants are expected to come with a new titanium frame instead of the stainless steel frame and reduced weight. All the two base and two high-end models are rumored to feature iPhone14 Pro’s Dynamic Island and USB-C instead of the typical Lightning charging port.
The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are expected to be powered by the A16 Bionic chip, similar to that in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. On the other hand, the high-end iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will come with a new A17 Bionic chip. In terms of camera, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus might see the main camera upgrade to 48 MP, the same as the high-end iPhone 14 models.
Another report by 9to5mac pointed out that one major improvement by Apple will be the replacement of the mute switch with a customizable button. The latest iPhones are expected to be priced $200 higher than the iPhone 14 series.
