The government of India’s southern state of Karnataka is in talks with Taiwanese electronics maker Foxconn over investment plans, chief minister Basavaraj S Bommai informed on Twitter. Foxconn currently has its units in two other Indian states – Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu – where it mainly manufactures products from Apple, Amazon, etc.
“We are in serious discussion of investment plans with Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) @HonHai_Foxconn at their Taiwan HQ & look forward to a fruitful collaboration. We remain committed to welcome the best companies to the state & reap rewards for our people,” the minister said.
The state’s Department of Industries and Commerce official Twitter handle also informed about the same. “The Govt. of #Karnataka is happy to discuss #investment plans with Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) @HonHai_Foxconn at their Taiwan Headquarters and looks forward to a fruitful collaboration in the state,” it said.
Foxconn’s spokesman James Wu, Chief Investment Officer James Tu, and other executives were also present at the occasion of the company’s collaboration with the Karnataka government. Foxconn is reportedly the world’s largest electronics maker and has 173 campuses and offices in 24 countries, according to a report by Gadgets 360.
Elsewhere, Foxconn recently reported a record revenue of NT$ 660.4 billion (approximately $22 billion) for January 2023 as operations at China’s Zhengzhou complex returned to normal. This is an increase of 4.93% on a month-on-month basis and 48.15% on a year-on-year basis. Production at the world’s largest iPhone plant was affected due to China’s stringent Covid-led restrictions.
