OpenAI’s ChatGPT can now analyze PDF files, other documents

ChatGPT

Microsoft-backed artificial intelligence company OpenAI has introduced latest features that allows users to upload and analyze PDF files and various other documents on its popular chatbot ChatGPT, reports noted. This new functionality is currently in beta and exclusively available to ChatGPT Plus members, according to a report by The Indian Express.

Users can now upload a wide range of document types, including PDFs, data files, and more, and have ChatGPT analyze them. To enable the latest “Advanced Data Analysis” feature, users can navigate to the ChatGPT settings and turn it on within the “beta features” section. This capability opens up numerous possibilities for users who wish to extract information, obtain document summaries, and understand data points based on the data contained within the file.

In addition to the document analysis feature, OpenAI has reportedly also introduced “multimodal support” to ChatGPT. This feature automatically selects various modes, such as Browsing, Advanced Data Analytics, Code Interpreter, and DALL.E., without the need for users to manually switch between them. While some of these features are still in the process of being rolled out, ChatGPT Plus members can expect a more seamless and efficient user experience in the near future.

According to another report by Mint, the two features are currently available within the ChatGPT Enterprise plan, which prioritizes privacy, security, and deployment tools for corporate clients. However, OpenAI is now making them accessible to ChatGPT Plus subscribers, further enriching the capabilities of this AI chatbot.

The growth of ChatGPT in 2023 has been nothing short of remarkable. Since its debut in November 2022, ChatGPT has captivated users worldwide with its ability to generate content spontaneously. ChatGPT has managed to capture significant user attention and it is evident by its rising app installs and revenues. September broke records, tallying 15.6 million downloads and $4.6 million in gross revenue across iOS and Android platforms globally.

However, a report from market intelligence firm Appfigures signals a deceleration in revenue growth, a potential red flag for the popular chatbot. Meanwhile, as the AI chatbot landscape has become increasingly competitive with the entry of rivals like Google, OpenAI’s commitment to innovation ensures that ChatGPT remains at the forefront of AI chatbot technology.
