Samsung will likely announce Galaxy Z Flip 5 in July.
South Korean tech giant Samsung is rumored to bring an ‘always-on display’ feature, similar to that in high-end iPhone 14 models, to Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphone series. Apple brought the AOD feature last year on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models.
According to a tweet by tipster Revegnus, who goes by @Tech_Reve on Twitter, “Z Flip 5 will have AOD like iPhone 14 Pro.” In always-on display mode, the smartphone dims the lock screen once you lock the handset or leave it idle while simultaneously showing helpful information like calendar information, notifications, and live activity. You can tap on the screen or use the power button to exit the AOD mode.
It is noteworthy that some Samsung Galaxy phones have an AOD feature that lets you view the time, date, notifications, missed calls, and more when the screen is turned off. However, if the latest rumor is believed to be true then the iPhone-like AOD feature could add a personalized touch to the foldable phone and you could see the phone’s entire wallpaper.
Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is further rumored to come in three storage options: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphone is expected to run on One UI 5.1.1 based on Android 13, according to a report by Gadgets 360. The device will likely be powered by a custom Qualcomm Snapdragon for Galaxy SoC, coupled with at least 8GB of RAM, the report added.
The smartphone is also rumored to feature a dual rear camera unit with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel ultra wide-angle shooter. According to another tipster Ross Young, who goes by @DSCCRoss, Galaxy Z Flip 5 could come in beige, gray, light green, and light pink color options.
In another tweet, Young added that panel shipment of Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 will begin in May with phone production starting in June. Samsung will likely announce Galaxy Z Flip 5 in July.
Elsewhere, the South Korean technology major launched the predecessor of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 in August last year. The company introduced its foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 at a global event in Seoul, South Korea, where it also unveiled Galaxy Watch 5 and Buds 2 Pro earbuds.
