Samsung Gears Up for Galaxy S24 Series Launch with Advanced AI Capabilities

Samsung is poised to unveil its latest flagship smartphone series, the Galaxy S24, with an expected launch date in January 2024. The series, consisting of the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra, is rumored to be packed with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) features, marking a significant step forward in the tech giant’s smartphone offerings.

According to reports, Samsung has applied for several AI-related trademarks in the UK and Europe, including ‘AI Phone’ and ‘AI Smartphone.’ This move has sparked speculation that the new series will be marketed prominently as an ‘AI Phone.’ However, reports suggest that securing these patents might be challenging due to the generic nature of the terms.

In addition to these trademarks, Samsung is reportedly working on augmented reality (AR) glasses and smart rings, with names such as ‘Magic Pixel,’ ‘Flex Magic,’ and ‘Flex Magic Pixel’ under consideration.

The Galaxy S24 series is expected to feature the ‘Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC for Galaxy’ as the processing unit in international markets, while some regions may see devices equipped with Samsung’s in-house Exynos processor. A notable upgrade includes the possible introduction of titanium frames, replacing the current aluminum ones.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra, in particular, is expected to be Samsung’s first phone to incorporate ‘Generative AI’ technology, along with a new EV battery technology for enhanced battery life.

Samsung has also announced the integration of AI into its smartphones. The company introduced the Galaxy AI last month, a mobile AI experience combining on-device and cloud-based AI solutions. This includes the ‘AI Live Translate Call’ feature, which provides real-time translation during phone calls. The Galaxy AI will debut in the Galaxy S24 series.

Furthermore, Samsung has developed a new generative AI model similar to OpenAI’s GPT. Named after the mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss, this model includes Samsung Gauss Language, Samsung Gauss Code, and Samsung Gauss Image. Capable of generating text, images, and code, this model is expected to run locally on Galaxy S24 devices.

The company’s statement last month emphasized their commitment to transforming mobile experiences with Galaxy security and privacy. The upcoming Galaxy S24 series is not only expected to be a technological marvel but also a cornerstone in what Samsung describes as “a new era of Galaxy AI.”
