Meta-owned Threads, is proving that it is far from dead, and is adapting to the changing social media landscape with the introduction of polls and GIFs. Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg, in two different posts, informed about the addition of the two new features on the platform.
“How I feel about polls and GIFs rolling out today on Threads,” Zuckerberg wrote on the platform on Thursday wherein he expressed his excitement with a GIF. Informing about polls, Zuckerberg replied to a two-week-old post by the director of data analytics at ABC News Elliott Morris who asked about when the social media platform will add a polls feature to Threads.
GIFs have become an integral part of online communication, providing a visual and often humorous way to express thoughts and emotions. Threads has recognized the importance of GIFs in modern communication and has incorporated them into the platform. Users can now search for and send GIFs in their direct messages, adding a fun and expressive element to their conversations.
Similarly, Polls have become a staple on various social media platforms, allowing users to engage with their followers in a fun and interactive way. Threads users can now create polls, ask questions, and get instant feedback from their followers, making the platform more engaging than ever before.
These additions are small and not only do they enhance the user experience, but they also bring Threads up to speed with other messaging apps that have long embraced these features, including its immediate rival X (formerly Twitter). Launched in July this year, Threads initially received an overwhelming response, attracting over 100 million sign-ups within the first five days of its launch.
However, there was a subsequent decline in user engagement, and Meta continues to work to stabilize the platform and retain its user base. Still, Threads is far from dead, and its latest updates with polls and GIFs are proof of its determination to remain relevant and appealing to its user base.
