Twitter releases ‘unmention’ feature that allow users to exclude unwanted tags

Twitter is also working on a ‘safety mode’ feature that is likely to aid in blocking trolls appearing in users’ mentions, according to reports.

Twitter has rolled out the ‘unmention’ feature that will let users have control over their tags on the microblogging platform on all devices.

The social media company, which has recently filed a lawsuit against Tesla’s Elon Musk after the billionaire walked out of the $44 billion deal to buy Twitter, announced the new feature via a tweet.

With the ‘unmention’ feature, users will now be able to untag their username from unwanted conversations, stop receiving notifications from threads, and restrict themselves from being tagged in the same thread in the future.

How to untag from a tweet:

    1. Tap on the three dots on the right-hand corner of the tweet from which the user wants to be unmentioned
    2. Select ‘leave this conversation” to untag from the tweet

Users who have not received the feature yet should get it in a few days. Besides the untag feature, Twitter is also working on a ‘safety mode’ feature that is likely to aid in blocking trolls appearing in users’ mentions, according to reports.
