Samsung’s highly awaited Unpacked event is set to take place on January 17, in San Jose, California at 10 AM PT (11.30 PM IST) The company will unveil its Galaxy devices lineup. The flagship event launch will set the tone for Samsung’s provisions all year round. It will be one of the biggest events in consumer tech with the introduction of the Galaxy S24, succeeding the S23 series. With only a few days left, authentic leaks leave a decent understanding of what to expect from the Korean manufacturer’s exciting event.
According to the information shared by leaker Evan Blass, now removed from X, but thankfully documented by Engadget, the three Galaxy devices to be launched at the event are the regular model, an S24+ and an S24 Ultra. All the devices will be running on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, predictably in U.S, China and Canada. An article by The Verge , reported that the phones will be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2400 outside these regions.
The Galaxy S24 will flex a 6.2 inch AMOLED 2X FHD display, a 50 MP main camera shooting videos at 8K, Space Zoom of 30x and 3x telephoto zoom. The device is expected to come with 8GB RAM accompanied by internal storage variants of 128GB and 256 GB. The Galaxy S24 has a 4000mAh battery that charges up to 50% in 30 minutes. The S24+ might have the same camera setup, with 6.7 inch AMOLED 2x QHD+ panel. The device comes with a larger battery than 4900mAh that has a capacity of charging up to 65% in half an hour.
There is a larger storage of 12GB RAM with internal storage variants of 256 GB and 512 GB. Both the models will be armoured with the Armour Aluminum 2.0 casting. The S24 Ultra might come with a titanium body, AMOLED 2X QHD+ display of 6.8 inches and is likely to have the same storage options as the S24+ but is going to be equipped with a comparatively luxurious camera setup that would consist of 200MP main lens , 10x quad telephoto and 100x Space Zoom. The device will have an AMOLED 2x QHD+ display and come with a larger battery than the S24+ at 5000mAh.
All the devices are expected to have a peak brightness of 2600 nits, IP68 water resistance and flat displays.
The Galaxy Unpacked event is special this year as Samsung is expected to announce the public debut of its Gauss generative AI system which is supported by the Snapdragon chipset in the devices. It is rumoured that Samsung’s generative AI will be known by the name Galaxy and is coming with AI updates like the feature Zoom with Galaxy AI.
Word has it, that Samsung may also introduce the Galaxy Fit 3 Fitness tracker and One UI 6.1 entering the ecosystem for the Galaxy devices. There are also suggestions of Samsung showing off several Galaxy Book Pro laptops, new tablets, earbuds and smartwatches.
