React with any emoji of choice as WhatsApp upgrades message reaction feature

WhatsApp is expanding its message reaction feature to any emoji of choice.
WhatsApp is all set to join the company’s other social media platform, Instagram, which already has the feature of reacting to messages with any emoji.

Meta-owned instant messaging application, WhatsApp, is expanding its message reaction feature to any emoji of choice from the current six emojis.

In a Facebook and Instagram post, Meta chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg said that the company “is rolling out the ability to use any emoji as a reaction on WhatsApp” and shared some of his favorite emojis. WhatsApp also announced the same on Twitter.

Currently, the feature is limited to six emojis, including a thumbs-up symbol, a heart emoji, a crying with laughter face, a surprised face, a sad crying face, and a thank you emoji. But now, WhatsApp is all set to join the company’s other social media platform, Instagram, which already has the feature of reacting to messages with any emoji.

According to reports, users will be able to find a ‘+’ sign when they long-press the message they want to react to and can choose the emoji of their choice. The announcement comes ahead of World Emoji Day, which is due on July 17, but it is still unclear when the feature will be rolled out.
