In a Facebook post, Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, shared the news, stating, “New for WhatsApp — we’re adding the ability to instantly record and share a video message in your WhatsApp chats. It’s as easy as sending a quick voice message.”
WhatsApp elaborated on the feature in a blog post, emphasizing its potential for users to add a personal touch to various occasions, such as birthday wishes, sharing good news, or conveying important information.
To access the new feature, users can manually update the app by downloading the latest version from the Google Play Store or App Store.
Sending a video message on WhatsApp is simple. Users need to tap and hold the icon next to the text field to switch to video mode. By swiping up to lock, they can record the video, much like voice notes. Upon opening the video in the chat, it will play automatically without sound, which can be activated with a single tap on the video.
This feature is the latest addition to WhatsApp’s continuous efforts to enhance user experience. Just recently, WhatsApp introduced a feature that automatically silences calls from unknown numbers and allowed users to edit messages within 15 minutes of sending them. There are also reports of WhatsApp working on username features.
