WhatsApp is giving users the ability to migrate chat history from Android to iPhone. This has been a long-demanded feature and has been a pain point for a good number of users. While moving between Android and iOS has become easier in recent years, transferring chat history continued to be painful. WhatsApp started allowing users to move chats from iOS to Android last year and with this announcement, users can now switch between these two operating systems effortlessly. The new functionality was announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a Facebook post.

While the functionality is now in beta, we expect to see it rolled out widely soon. The process works only on new or factory reset iPhones and utilises Apple’s Move to iOS app for Android. You can now select the ‘Move data from Android’ option during setup and then follow the steps to make the transfer. Once setup, you can sign-in to WhatsApp and continue using it with your chat history now restored from Android. You need to have Android 5 or up on your Android phone and iOS 15.5 on your iPhone.
