Ola electric car to make its debut in 2024!

On the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day on Monday, Ola Electric CEO and founder Bhavish Agarwal announced the much-awaited Ola electric car. During a live stream event, the electric vehicle manufacturer said that the car is scheduled to launch in 2024.

A lot of information, such as investment amounts or production goals for the forthcoming car, is still a secret. Aggarwal claimed that Ola intends to create two vehicle platforms and six distinct models of cars, all of which will be produced in its expanded Giga facility in Tamil Nadu.

Other than announcing the year of launch for the car, Bhavish Aggarwal revealed its range as well as its acceleration timings. The made-in-India Ola electric car will have a range of more than 500 km per charge. Ola’s electric division also claims that its first car will be able to go from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4 seconds.

The Ola electric car is also expected to have an all-glass roof and electric doors. The teaser video showed a sedan with a fastback roof.

“We deserve a car that defines this new India. An India that is fearless and believes in writing its own destiny. Our car is going to be one of the fastest cars in India. 0 to 100 within 4 seconds, it will have a range of more than 500 kilometers per charge. It will be the sportiest car ever built in India, with an all-glass roof, it will have Move OS and assisted driving capabilities as good as any other car in the world. It will be keyless and handleless,” said Aggarwal, during the livestream.

According to data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations of India (FADA), in April-March 2021, Ola, which is backed by Japan’s Softbank Group, has already built an electric two-wheeler ecosystem and has a market share of 0.79 percent in the two-wheeler EV segment in India.

In addition to building up 100 hyper-charging electric stations in major Indian cities, the company has sold over 70,000 electric two-wheelers in the past seven months, according to Aggarwal, who also unveiled the Ola S1 during the event. It is a more inexpensive variant of the Ola S1 Pro and the company’s second electric scooter in the country.
