Just a week after Twitter CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter to complain about tech giant Apple halting advertisement on the platform, Apple along with Amazon has resumed advertising on the micro-blogging platform. On Saturday, Musk claimed that Apple has “fully resumed” advertising on Twitter. Reports suggest that Amazon is also planning to return to the platform very soon. In a tweet on Sunday, Musk wrote, “Just a note to thank advertisers for returning to Twitter.”

Over a week ago, Twitter’s CEO said that iPhone maker Apple had ceased running advertisements on the micro-blogging platform, further questing the company if it doesn’t support free speech. Musk also said that Apple threatened to ban Twitter from its app store without providing any explanation. In another tweet, Musk called out Apple’s practice of levying a ‘secret’ tax on developers who publish their apps on the App Store. “Apple has mostly stopped advertising on Twitter. Do they hate free speech in America?” Musk tweeted. In another tweet, Musk wrote, “Apple has also threatened to withhold Twitter from its App Store, but won’t tell us why.”
During a Twitter Spaces on Saturday, Musk stated that Apple is the largest advertiser on the social media network. Earlier this month, Musk met Apple Inc Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook at the iPhone maker’s headquarters. Reportedly, Amazon is also planning to restart advertising on Twitter at about $100 million per year. Some reports suggest that Amazon never completely stopped advertising on Twitter. However, Amazon, Apple, and Twitter have not said anything publicly.
A lot has been happening on the micro-blogging platform since Musk took over Twitter in October. In recent updates, Musk re-banned Kanye West from Twitter after he posted a swastika designed to look like a Star of David and shared personal text messages the rapper had with the Twitter owner. Following this, Musk, who claims to be a “free speech absolutist,” tweeted saying that it was fine for West to tweet unflattering photos of Musk shirtless, something West did as a “last tweet,” but not okay to tweet the swastika.
“I tried my best. Despite that, he again violated our rule against incitement to violence. Account will be suspended,” Musk wrote after West’s suspension.
