With Instagram’s new feature, you can use both avatar and picture as your DP

Instagram has introduced ‘dynamic profile photo’, a new feature allowing users to showcase their profile picture and their avatar, both. Earlier, users choose between a profile picture or an avatar on their profile.

The Meta-owned company announced on Twitter, “Now you can add your avatar to the other side of your pic — and people who visit your profile can flip between the two.”

You can add an avatar to the other side of their profile picture so that it flips when people visit your profile. Select the “Edit Profile” button and add your avatar. After you save the settings, your display picture will automatically flip over to your avatar.

Meta introduced avatars in 2020, in an attempt to compete with Snap’s Bitmoji. Since then, the company has been updating the feature across its platform including Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp. Avatars made their debut on Instagram nearly a year ago.

Just a few days ago,  the platform head Adam Mosseri said the social network is working towards making photos more of a focus in 2023.
