ASUS revealed its next-generation gaming ROG Phone 8 series at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in Las Vegas on Tuesday. The ASUS ROG Phone 8 series comes with AI-related features and is an upgrade over its predecessor ASUS ROG Phone 7 and is available with major updates like an IP68 certification, is 15% thinner and lighter in weight, with thinner bezels and improvements in storage, high screen refresh rates, battery size, cooling technology (Gamecool 8 Advanced thermal system).
The new AI Grabber feature in the ROG Phone 8 series will allow users to access text directly from games. The Stable Diffusion technology allows users to create AI wallpapers. The device also has the new ‘X Mode’ that boosts gaming performance. A 3.5mm audio jack in the device , with better call and audio performance, has also been updated by the company in the new gaming smartphone.
ASUS ROG 8 Specifications
Asus ROG Phone 8 comes with a 6.78-inch Full HD+AMOLED LTPO display, a 165Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2500 nits. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 30% faster CPU and 25% faster GPU, coupled with 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a storage of 1TB UFS 4.0, makes the phone all the more powerful.
The smartphone supports 5500 mAh battery and 65W fast charging, Quick Charge 5.0, 15W Qi wireless charging and PD charging. The charger comes with the box.
The new smartphone also has a triple-camera setup with a 50 MP back camera having the Sony IMX890 sensor, supporting the 6-axis Hybrid Gimbal Stabilizer, 32 MP telephoto lens supporting 3x optical zoom, four in one-pixel binning and OIS. It also has a 13MP ultra-wide lens and a field view of 120 degrees. The pro models have a thickness of 8.9mm and are 15% thinner than the previous generation (10.49mm).
