Chris Hemsworth in Talks for Epic Transformers and G.I. Joe Crossover Movie

Chris Hemsworth, the actor behind Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is in talks to join another major franchise – this time a historic crossover between the iconic 80s properties, Transformers and G.I. Joe. The news comes after Paramount officially confirmed the project at CinemaCon this year. The tease for this team-up was first planted in the 2023 film “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.”

In the movie’s closing scene, after teaming up with the Autobots to save the world, Anthony Ramos’ character Noah meets a mysterious government agent named Burke, played by Michael Kelly. The exchange reveals Burke’s affiliation with the G.I. Joes, hinting at a future collaboration between the two groups. While the Transformers and G.I. Joe characters have interacted in Marvel comics, this would be their first big-screen meeting. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura assures fans that the inclusion of G.I. Joe is a natural progression of the story, not a forced franchise mashup. He’s already lending his voice to the upcoming animated prequel “Transformers One,” where he plays a young Optimus Prime, then known as Orion Pax. The movie is slated for a September 2024 release.

The live-action Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover film boasts a powerhouse production team. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, and Michael Bay will serve as producers, with legendary director Steven Spielberg attached as an executive producer. Given the star power of Chris Hemsworth and the proven track record of the production team, this project has all the makings of a massive summer blockbuster. While plot details and Hemsworth’s potential character remain under wraps, fans can anticipate a thrilling cinematic experience that unites two titans of the action genre.
