Twitter Blue subscribers can now post 4,000 character-long tweets

Twitter Blue subscribers can now post tweets with up to 4,000 characters, instead of being limited to 280 characters. The updated feature will apply to replies and quote tweets. Users will also be able to post images and videos with long tweets, Twitter announced on Wednesday. The feature is being rolled out for users residing in the US.

Twitter announced the update in a lengthy tweet. “While only Blue subscribers can post longer Tweets, anyone and everyone can read them. you can reply to, retweet, and quote Tweet a longer Tweet, no matter if you’re a Twitter Blue subscriber or not. subscribers will be able to reply and QT with up to 4,000 characters,” the tweet read.  The company said tweets will be capped at 280 characters on users’ timelines. Users can click on the “Show more” prompt to read the whole tweet.

Originally, the micro-blogging platform had a character limit of 140. It was increased to 280 in 2017, under the leadership of Jack Dorsey.

Recently, Twitter announced pricing for its Twitter Blue subscription in the country. Along with India, the pricing for Twitter Blue is also announced for Indonesia and Brazil. Talking about India, the monthly Blue subscription will cost users Rs 650 for the web and Rs 900 each for Android and iOS devices. Twitter will charge Rs 6,800 for a yearly subscription.

Following the launch of Twitter Blue, Elon Musk is adding more exclusive features to the subscription service to entice users. Currently, other than getting a blue verification mark, Twitter Blue subscribers get an option to edit tweets, undo tweets and upload videos up to 60 minutes long.
