Chinese smartphone maker Realme is reportedly working on developing a copycat of Apple’s Dynamic Island feature. According to a report by Smartprix, the vice-president of Realme – Madhav Sheth – briefly tweeted an image of what the company is currently calling a “Mini Capsule.”

Sheth’s tweet, which he deleted later, had an image of a Realme C-Series device with a floating UI element at the top of the display. By looking at the images shared by the media organization, Mini Capsule seems like a clear-cut clone of Dynamic Island, a feature launched by American multinational consumer tech giant Apple in its high-end 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max models.

Just like Dynamic Island, Mini Capsule uses a black interface to hide the camera cutouts. The image was seen showing the charging status of the smartphone with colors changing on the capsule when the battery charges from 0% to 100%.

Sooner rather than later, it was expected that a Dynamic Island-like feature would come in Android-based smartphones and Realme seems to be on the way to grabbing the first-mover advantage in the Android segment. However, there is no official confirmation from the company yet.

The Dynamic Island feature, which is currently exclusive to iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, is a pill-shaped cut-out on the center that moves around, animates, and shows notifications. The Tim Cook-led company launched the new iPhone series at the ‘Far Out’ event on September 7. Apple has even started allowing third-party developers to create games and experiences around the new feature.
