Meta-owned, American instant messaging platform, WhatsApp, might soon roll out a new feature to share voice notes on status.
Possibly called ‘voice status’, the feature has been spotted in WhatsApp for Android beta v2.22.16.3 version, according to a report. The feature is still in development and there is no clarity on when it will be released to beta testers.
Currently, the application lets users share status via text, image or video. However, the report shares a screenshot showing a new voice note icon at the bottom of the status tab. The new audio feature will be protected by end-to-end encryption, while only individuals selected by the user in the status privacy settings will be able to view the status.
This comes amid several unique updates the company is working on. Recently, Meta chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg announced that the messaging app is expanding its message reaction feature to any emoji of choice from the current six emojis. But it is still unclear when the feature will be rolled out.
