Xiaomi has confirmed the launch of its new flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, for April 18. The company the event in China via Weibo, sharing camera samples and posters that highlight the design and specifications of the rear camera module. As anticipated by leaks, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will feature Leica-tuned quad rear cameras and is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra launch event, titled “A shot above,” will take place in China at 7:00 pm local time (4.30 pm IST), according to a teaser poster shared on Weibo. The teasers reveal Leica-branded quad rear cameras, emphasizing the camera advancements of the image sensors on the new phone. Xiaomi’s CEO and founder, Lei Jun, stated that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra represents the “second chapter” of the company’s imaging strategy upgrade.
Rumored specifications suggest the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will feature a 6.7-inch WQHD+ AMOLED LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and will be available in 12GB and 16GB RAM options as well as 256GB and 512GB storage options.
The quad rear camera setup is said to include a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and two 50-megapixel telephoto sensors, with a 32-megapixel selfie sensor. The phone is expected to be backed by a 4,900mAh battery with 90W fast charging support. The smartphone’s cameras, backed by Leica, are expected to offer exceptional photography capabilities.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be part of the Xiaomi 13 series, which currently includes the Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, and Xiaomi 13 Lite.
Rumors suggest that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra could be the first Xiaomi smartphone to feature a USB 3.x connectivity port, moving away from the traditional USB 2.0 standard. Xiaomi has confirmed that the 13 Ultra will be introduced globally sometime in April, with more details likely to be revealed in the coming days.
