Elon Musk welcomes Ye to Twitter after inviting former U.S. President Donald Trump

The rapper was booted off Twitter and Instagram last month for antisemitic posts.

In another development in the prolonged Twitter saga, Elon Musk has now welcomed the American rapper Ye (previously known as Kanye West) to the platform. This comes after Musk, following a poll on the social media platform, reinstated the account of former U.S. President Donald Trump.

“Testing Testing Seeing if my Twitter is unblocked,” Ye, who returned to Twitter after a two-week hiatus from the platform, tweeted. To this, Musk replied, “Don’t kill what ye hate, Save what ye love.” Ye later tweeted “Shalom : )” which means peace in Hebrew.

The rapper was booted off from the company, now owned by Musk, last month for antisemitic posts that violated the social media giants’ policies. He later entered a deal to buy Parler, which is a right-wing friendly platform like Trump’s Truth Social.

Unlike Ye, Trump said he has no interest in returning to Twitter after a slim majority favored his reinstatement to the American microblogging site. More than 51% of the respondents favored Trump’s return. The former U.S. President was banned from the platform after he was accused of inciting the Capitol Hill riots in January 2021.

Trump plans to stick with Truth Social, an app developed by his startup. The social media platform returned to Google Play Store last month after it got banned, in August, over “insufficient” content moderation policies.
